Hollywood actress Natalie Portman will slay zombies in a new movie adaptation of Pride and Prejudice.

The 28-year-old will be starring in as well as producing Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, which is based on the book by Seth Grahame-Smith and Jane Austen.

The movie will be financed and distributed by Lionsgate. Austen's name is on the book but actress Grahame-Smith added flesh-eating zombies to the story.

Portman will play the role of the actress Elizabeth Bennet, who is distracted by her plan to get rid of a zombie by meeting Mr Darcy.

Portman will produce through her handsomecharlie company with Annette Savitch as well as Richard Kelly, Sean McKittrick and Ted Hamm.

Victoria's Secret Fashion Show Returned in New York

After four years on the road, the Victoria's Secret fashion show returned to New York on 19 Nov, being filmed at the Lexington Avenue Armory, Manhattan, and will be aired on CBS on Dec. 1.

The show featured musical guests The Black Eye Peas -- with member Fergie also walking on the runway -- performing two songs, aerialists, a choir, Busby Berkeley-style dancers, and, of course, the scantily-clad Victoria's Secret Angels.

During the show, Heidi Klum -- who was the host -- surprised the crowd by walking the runway in a purple corset, after recently having a baby, and model Marissa Miller wearing a $3 million dollar bra.

The annual Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, which returned to New York with some Fresh faces after four years on the road.

"People, in the panic of the recession, don't dare to put a girl of colour in their campaign, full stop," she added. "Nor of any other race. It's a shame. It's very sad."

Glamour Dancing Fashion Models Girl

She was India's first dancing supermodel, sashaying down runways with Naomi Campbell. He was a film producer and buddy of Guy Ritchie. They met on a blind date in Paris.

But what began nine years ago as a "mad affair" has descended into a vicious fight through India's labyrinthine legal system over property and a child – filling the Delhi papers with a tale about the fickleness of family, fame and fortune.

It was not meant to be like this. The 31-year-old fashion models queen Ujjwala Raut and her British businessman husband Maxwell Sterry, 47, were once the toast of New York's fashion scene – they married in David Bowie's Manhattan apartment with the pop star's model wife Iman overseeing the nuptials five years ago.

But, up until recently, the couple parried accusations of violence, kidnapping and of even using political influence to bend the rules. Until late tonight it appeared Ujjwala had all but triumphed.

Maxwell had been "asked to leave" India within 72 hours after immigration officers issued a deportation notice based on girl allegations – which he denies — that he had threatened to hurt her and their three-year-old daughter.

However it is understood Maxwell met with home ministry officials on Friday evening to seek assurances he could stay to dismiss the divorce and get access to his child.

Maxwell, who is a director of a mining company in India, earlier told the Guardian he understood and respected India's "due process". "My wife tried to have me harassed out of the country by using her influence in Delhi to have my visa revoked with false claims … I have never been abusive or hit or threatened my wife or my daughter."

Maxwell says he has not seen his daughter Ksha since March this year, saying the child was taken by her mother who has subsequently barred him from having any contact with the young girl.

In the divorce petition filed by Ujjwala, the glamour modeling says her husband had been living off her "hard-earned money" and she could no longer stay with him because of "cruelty and emotional suffering".

The fashion models said she lived "in the flickering hope that her husband would realise his behaviour has caused her pain and agony".

Maxwell has counter-sued, arguing that as their marriage was registered in New York and Ksha is a US citizen the divorce cannot be settled in India.

Ujjwala refused to comment when contacted by the Guardian. Her publicist said the model girl would not talk as matters were before the court and she was "taking time off to be with her family".

Ujjwala grew up in Mumbai, India's glamour capital. As one of the five daughters of a senior policeman she led a comfortable if sheltered life – until she decamped to Paris in 2000 after conquering the small Indian glamour modeling world in her teens.

It was there she met Maxwell, who had been a dancing model, and they soon moved to New York where Ujjwala's reed-like frame and her walnut-tinted skin were in vogue. She became the first Indian to appear as the face of Yves Saint Laurent and could command $15,000 a day for shoots.

The pair married in 2004, each taking the surname Raut-Sterry. Their daughter was born eighteen months later and the couple bought a run-down villa in northern Goa in 2006. Maxwell stayed with Ksha to build a family home in India while Ujjwala moved back to New York for work. The couple would jet between the palm-fringed beaches of southern India and New York's avenues every three months.

Maxwell says that the marriage floundered in 2008 with Ujjwala bringing home expensive gifts from suitors. The tension burst open in a confrontation in December last year – in which Maxwell and Ujjwala each accuse the other of an unprovoked attack. A few days after the alleged incident police in Goa they each dropped their complaint.

Ujjwala then filed for divorce in Mumbai in January this year, saying she was terrified for her and her daughter's life. Despite this, says Maxwell, Ksha was left in his care while Ujjwala jetted off to Milan for a month in February.

Upon her return in March she allegedly closed down all Maxwell's bank accounts and took Ksha back to Mumbai. Since then Maxwell says he has been barred from seeing his daughter and found himself locked out of the villa he built in Goa.

"I find myself without my daughter, my home and my money. My life is in India and I want to stay so this divorce can be settled fairly," he said.

The underlying issues here are whether fashion has any merit if it doesn’t sell (or isn’t "consumed"), whether airbrushing has given us a highly unrealistic image to live up to or if what we’ve come to expect is perfection, whether the manipulation of one’s image is a form of empowerment or if it’s an enslavement to the gaze, and if we are presenting the side we want the world to see or if we are conforming, twisting ourselves, into the presentation that the world wishes to see.

Some teams were more interested in the process rather than making provocative statements, or questioning gratification, with one (Team 2, Kai Huang et. al.) reversing the process of a fashion/ad shoot by shooting first and adding the famous actresses fashion item later labeled simply "bag," "shoe" and "dress." Here, instead of fashion inspiring typography/layout, typography/layout inspires fashion. The technique used was a model in skimpy nude underwear trying different poses and later paper cut-outs representative of the fashion items were tacked on.

Composition was the driving force behind one team’s use of scrap materials as a "fifth element" as a sort of mosaic on the photo (Team 4, Everywhere we shoot et. al.), whereas participation played a big part in the communication of ideas for at least three teams — an indication that audiences are becoming more interactive, and could become not just fans of (or more appropriately connoisseurs), but also critics, sometimes even editors or co-creators of design, the way they take bit parts of other people’s creations to make health and beauty their own version.

One of the participative teams demonstrated model pictures by using Braille and bits of tactile references such as the addition of real hair, a real rose, a miniature dress to the photos (Team 1, Jun de Leon, et. al.). These photos were up for sale, and the proceeds dedicated to The Resources for the Blind. Translating such a concept to the pages of a magazine will be tricky, however, and since there was no textural reference to the Braille (supposedly sayings by Leonardo Da Vinci explaining beauty), a seeing person will have to go through the trouble of discerning their meaning.

The problem with such an exhibit, as one editor at the sidelines commented, is that some of the displays are just not suitable as a fashion editorial and would be rejected outright. The techniques used are not exactly new — the pastiche, collage, tactile text for example — either, although they can be made fresh because of a new concept. One has to question, however, if a magazine will be able to devote so much space for something that does not sell anything beyond the concept.

On the other hand, the organizers’ objective was merely to suggest an alternative approach to a fashion shoot.

"With this exhibit, we’re featuring the Filipino creatives, we are giving them the opportunity to work on a different platform... The concept is photographer and collaboration... The new thing is the working style. Most of the time... [it’s] tight, [because there isn’t much leeway for the photographer to be creative]. We give the photographer and stylist this experiment, getting them together, and that’s the price that’s going to come out... it’s experimental so it borders on art, it’s not really literal," said Joseph "Joey" Alviar, co-founder and co-creative director of Team Manila, organizer of the event.

"We’re not trying to change anything here, it’s such a small event to change anything in the fashion industry; we’re just giving them another taste of working, of thinking about collaboration, thinking of client-creative dynamics, not always ’I want this shirt, I want this idea executed.’ We want it to be more give-and-take and the end product is a question mark. We’re just selling the process, the idea, we’re just selling collaboration," he added

What happens when a group of male and female fashion models share a residence in New York? That's what The CW is trying to answer with its new fall series The Beautiful Life, which attempts, in part, to correct some of the misimpressions about the fashion industry projected by modeling reality shows.

Think America's next Top fashion model but with so much more scripted drama. The show has garnered a lot of publicity even before its September 16 premiere, unfortunately, not because of good reviews but its controversial cast, specifically its lead star Mischa Barton, who has been the subject of tabloids ever since her rumored suicide attempt.

To find out what's so beautiful girl about The Beautiful Life, read on for spoilers. Take note, however, that these spoilers are not confirmed by the network and are just rumors or speculations at this point so read at your own risk.

In the dancing and modeling world, everyone one knows that behind the glitter and glamour lies a world of insecurity and cut-throat competition.

Raina Marinelli (Sara Paxton) and Chris Andrews (Benjamin Hollingsworth) are two teenage model girl who are about to enter the fashion industry but not without some bitter rivals.

Raina, an attractive dancing girl with a mysterious past, immediately makes a striking impression at a show introducing the new line from designer Zac Posen, but steals the spotlight from her friend Sonja Stone (Barton), who has been out of the country for mysterious reasons and is now desperate reclaim her crown as top model.

On the other hand, Chris, a handsome Iowa farm boy, is climbing his way up the fashion models ladder, having just been discovered by an agent at the Covet Modeling Agency, which is owned by former supermodel Claudia Foster (Elle Macpherson). Chris' inexperience almost derails his career until Raina comes to his rescue during his first photo shoot, showing him how to work the camera. Again, Chris is impressed by Raina's generosity when she steps aside to make sure Sonja lands a job that will resurrect her career. However, after an ugly scene with an agent, Chris is left to question whether he can survive in this world of dangerous excess and fleeting fame.

Other characters featured on the beautiful fashion life, include Marissa Delfina (Ashley Madekwe), Isaac Taylor (Corbin Bleu), and the current alpha-male-model known as Cole Shepherd (Nico Tortorella) as other young hopefuls who live with Raina.

TOKYO (Reuters Life!) - Top Japanese model Yuri Ebihara has made her mark in Asia but now she wants to take her place on the global catwalk alongside the world's supermodels.

The 29-year-old has decided she is too sexy for Japan and wants to share the red carpet with the international jet set in Paris, New York and Milan. "I've done Japan," Ebihara told Reuters in an interview, immediately gasping and covering her face in embarrassment. "I just mean I want to work for model poses with the top people in the world." Ebihara, popularly known in Japan as "Ebi-chan" ('baby shrimp'), reigns supreme as her country's hottest magazine and TV model, with her enormous selling power in Japan and Asia used on everything from cosmetics to fast food chains. "Until now it was fine being in the 'pretty-cutesy' brigade and being a hit. I've experienced that whole boom," she said before a fashion show in Tokyo.

"Now I want to break out and try the biggest challenge out there. It's a world I haven't dipped my toe into yet so I would like to see where it takes me ... I'm 30 this year so maybe it's time to go international." In Japan Ebihara has become a women fashion for a powerful brand. When McDonalds used her fluttering eyelashes to promote its 'ebi-burger' in 2005, a staggering 10 million of the shrimp meals were sold within a four-week period. "When we were shooting those commercials I was allowed to spit the burgers out if I ate too many," she laughed. "I've eaten fast food since I was a kid though and still do sometimes." The 168-centimetre (5ft 6in) tall Ebihara plus size model said she would not feel intimidated being dwarfed by the leggy sirens who pose in the pages of Vogue and Cosmopolitan. "I wouldn't want to be too tall. I'm alright as I am -- Kate Moss is small too. I like her and Gisele (Bundchen)," said the Japanese superstar whose twin sister chose not to pursue a career in modeling.

Metronomically punctual and not known for throwing hissy fits, Ebihara insisted she had the 'minerals' to stamp her mark among the modeling photogrpher of Paris and New York. Informed that tabloid scandal sometimes comes with the territory of being a supermodel, she wrinkled her nose and joked: "Have I done anything scandalous? Maybe ..."

Lucy Pinder has admitted she thinks the contestants due to enter the Big Brother house this summer are "mad".

The glamour model said she only took part in the celebrity version of the reality TV show earlier this year for the money.

"I think you've got to be mad to do it, especially the one where you don't get paid," said Lucy.
"The people who have gone in for it, they obviously love the show and I think they must know what they're getting themselves into."

She continued: "I went in there just because to be honest I saw the pay-cheque and I was like, ok, I can't really turn that money down for a couple of weeks work.

"I thought, I'll just go in there and try and be myself, as long as I don't embarrass my friends and family. And that was it really. I didn't really have any game plan."

Lucy added she found it difficult being told what to do - and it was difficult to forget she was on camera.

"I think (being told what to do) was really difficult - that and the boredom," admitted Lucy. "You can't really forget you're being filmed because you hear the cameras and the runners, and you can hear people talking behind the walls, you can hear the production guys, you can hear people sneezing and coughing."

But the model has no regrets about taking part. "I think I was just myself - I think I disappointed a few people," she laughed. "I wasn't running around in a bikini but there we go. I literally just took it as another job."

Maria Pinto, who has become well-known for designing figure-flattering, brightly colored sheath dresses worn by Michelle Obama, says that in her 18 years in the fashion business, she has learned several tricks to make sure a dress looks good on her own body.

When picking out a fashion able dress, the first thing Ms. Pinto does is scrutinize the fabric. "I crumple it up in my hand -- if it wrinkles up too much, I won't even consider it," says Ms. Pinto, who generally avoids linen. "If the wrinkles aren't part of the look and the dress gets wrinkled the moment you put it on, you're going to be a wrinkled mess for hours."

Another thing Ms. Pinto often notices is the cut of the arms. Ms. Pinto likes to wear sleeveless dresses but favors ones that are cut at an angle to bare a little more skin at the top of the shoulder than at the bottom of the armhole. "The strong diagonal makes your arms look slimmer, draws your eye up to the neck and makes your body look longer."

The designer, who is a petite 5-foot-3, is careful about where the hemline of the dress falls, too. She likes pieces that end at "the sweet point just below the knee -- it flatters the leg." She avoids dresses that end right at the knee, which "isn't the prettiest part of the body," as well as dresses that end in the middle of the calf, a length that can draw attention to a wide part of the leg. Ms. Pinto also avoids large prints in dresses because she feels they could overwhelm her petite frame.

While color is an important component of a dress -- this spring, she is partial to coral and chartreuse green -- Ms. Pinto pays especially careful attention to fit. One of the most common mistakes women make when shopping for clothing is being "obsessed with what size we are," she says. "Don't buy something just because it's what you think your size is or should be -- just make sure whatever you're trying on fits you right."

If a dress generally fits well but is tight in one area, Ms. Pinto usually gets the piece one size larger and has it altered. "There's nothing less flattering than having something look tight on you -- it makes even an expensive garment look cheap," she says.

When shopping for a dress, Ms. Pinto tries to bring the shoes and underwear she expects to wear with it. At times, when some clients come to fittings in workout bras, "I'll say, 'We're not going to fit you in that -- your body will look different in that dress when you wear a regular bra,' " she says. She notes that wearing a pair of heels affects how a dress looks on a woman because the heels' lift alters the posture.

Before making a purchase, Ms. Pinto inspects the garment to see how well the details are executed -- if a zipper is attached well, for example, and whether the hems are stitched evenly. "If there are things that are starting to bunch up on a dress when I'm wearing it, I always ask for the fitter in the store and say, 'Tell me what you think -- is this something you can fix?' "

Ms. Pinto walks around and sits down in dresses she's trying on so that she can see things like how much a slit in the bottom of a dress opens as she walks or how high a hemline creeps up. "You have to make sure you're comfortable," she says.

Glamour Model Bianca Gascoigne ‘Uncontrollably Drunk’ on MTV

Bianca Gascoigne, a renowned British glamour model and television personality, has never been shy about making a fool of herself in public, bad mouths are saying. However, even for her, there is a rock bottom, and she hit it last year, during an MTV photoshoot in Spain, which the music network just aired the other day as part of her show “The Celebrity Agency,” the British media is reporting.

From what the video shows, Bianca was so intoxicated, that she could barely stand to pose for pictures for MTV. At one point, her people decided that it was about time they called it a day and one tried to show Bianca to a sun lounger, but the star was so out of it that she tripped, fell and landed on her head. The same woman is then shown trying to take Bianca to her hotel room to sleep it off.

Apparently, the star, daughter of famous footballer Paul John Gascoigne, got so drunk after she had one too many vodkas because she was cold. As she herself explains upon sobering up, the vodka and lack of food brought her into that state, much to her shame and embarrassment. “I’m really embarrassed about the photoshoot now. We were travelling to different beaches all day and it was quite cold, so I was drinking vodka to keep warm. The problem is, I just kept on drinking and hadn’t had anything to eat because I didn’t want my belly sticking out.” the star says to the cameras.

Sadly, she did not stop here either. “Later in the show, her agent is seen undressing, bathing and putting her to bed as she couldn’t walk or stand. She then tells her boss that she has positioned Bianca ‘head-to-face down’ to stop her swallowing her own vomit. After the shoot, also attended by glamour women model Charlotte Mears, who had to help her stay up, her worried agent describes Bianca as ‘uncontrollably drunk.’” the Daily Mail writes about the episode that MTV just aired.

While, as noted above, Bianca is no stranger to controversy and embarrassing herself in front of the cameras, the incident is described by her friends as extremely painful for her family, especially since her father has been struggling with alcohol addiction for years.

The City Cannot Handle the Topic of Eating Disorders

MTV had an opportunity last night to send a message to millions of young women across this country about eating disorders. Whitney Port had the opportunity to make her place in the role-model stratosphere inexplicable no longer, while Olivia Palermo and Allie Crandell had the opportunity to join her there. They failed, and last night's episode of The City would have failed, too, without Whitney's ex-boss Kelly Cutrone, the only woman who not only acknowledged the absurdity of the fashion industry's standards of beauty, but questioned them. Whitney has much to learn from her. But first, some more lessons for her and the rest of the cast.

Lesson 1: Ending the post-collegiate, faux soul-searching phase of life and starting a career.
Do: Let your friends help you find a job. Deadbeat Erin tells her friends at dinner she's decided to “move toward something like a career.” Her friends are “kicking butt” in their pseudo-careers and she feels like a loser. Allie the model is the last person at the dinner table we expect to pipe up with a lead on a job at her agency, because models usually don’t get their non-model friends office jobs. Like, doesn't Whitney have connections? Erin, who looks oddly pale (production schedules can be a bitch for continuity), must take whatever she can get.

Don’t: Wear jeans to your job interview. Erin arrives at her interview at Allie's agency clad in jeans and a boxy, unflattering jacket — the sort of thing you’d wear to an 11 a.m. Friday class at NYU after a hard night of drinking at Tenjune. She tells Scott the boss that she’s “unofficially styling all the time.” Scott the boss says she looks very stylish, which is obviously a lie. Just once, can’t MTV send someone for a job interview they don’t get? They make getting a job look as easy as buying shoes.

Lesson 2: Meeting your best friend’s mentor.
Do: Engage the mentor in conversation. At Kelly Cutrone's birthday party, Allie playfully asks her what she thinks of her outfit. Kelly hates her leggings, but Allie plays it off like a model who hears worse about the way she looks all the time.

Don’t: Storm out crying. Kelly asks Allie, “Are you okay? You seem so skinny.” Allie says she's fine. “Are you sure? That’s a question you should ask yourself.” We thought this was funny in the preview for this episode, but not so much when it happens. What if Allie really does need help? If she’s not only a girl with a cheating boyfriend, but a girl who deals with her boyfriend’s infidelity with an eating disorder? The thought of living in that state makes us so sad. Kelly continues to harp and Allie runs out crying. We feel for her, but the girl's got to stop doing this. Two episodes in a row? If we were Whitney, we'd stop bringing her out.

Lesson 3: Reuniting with an ex.
Don’t: Bother talking to him if, rather than offer you “a drink,” he offers you “a shot of tequila and a Bud Light.”

Don’t: Sleep with him after a party on a weeknight. We understand that people on this show don’t have jobs to be at in the morning, but they could at least pretend. And why would Erin want to bother with a guy who evidently has nowhere important to be on Thursday morning? We assume he's not leaving at 7:30 because Erin is up making coffee. She seems like the kind of girl who sleeps till 3 every day and barely stirs before then, even though men come and go like her apartment’s a Starbucks.

Lesson 4: Being a classy, yet fierce, diva.
Sasha Don’t: Stew and pout because the woman sitting across the table from you criticized your weight once. Kelly's cameo at Allie's agency's dinner riles Allie. Anyone who’s spent five minutes in therapy — and, judging by her relationship with Adam, Allie clearly hasn't — knows that people can only make you feel bad about yourself if you let them.

Sasha Do: Try to pacify the pouters while promoting yourself. “I really did not mean to devastate you,” Kelly deadpans to Allie. She could be sincere, she could be catty — probably a mix of both. She offers to try to get another model at the table into the shows she’s working on for Fashion Week, like Yigal Azrouel or Alexandre Herchcovitch. So she dropped her clients names, dominated the table conversation, and asserted her position as the Queen Bee of the segment. Bravo.

Lesson 5: Working in an industry that thinks 5’ 11” girls who weigh 112 pounds are the ideal size.
Do: Question this absurd standard of normal. None of the girls in their twenties on this show do, thus failing womankind. Again.

Don’t: Act like you've never entertained the notion that a model could be unhealthy. Whitney tells Olivia about Kelly and Allie as though she just landed here from Mars and never heard of a model having a body-image issue or an eating disorder. Ridiculous. This girl has worked in fashion for years now. “I don’t know what’s healthy in modeling?” she says, with what sounds like the intelligence of a hamster. She adds that she thinks body image is a really "personal thing." News flash: it's different for models, who get paid to look a certain way.

Don’t: Act like models are normal. Olivia laughs at Whitney and counters, “You think we have Shamu coming down the runway? Like, no.” We think there was some funky editing here, because this conversation doesn’t quite make sense (not that we expect these people to be coherent). But while Olivia seems to understand that models are crazy thin, she acts like this controversial standard needn't be questioned. If she progresses in her fashion career, we can totally see her become the person who tells 5’ 11”, 115-pound girls to “lose your thighs.” Hell, she probably does that backstage at the DVF shows, anyway, for no good reason.

Lesson 6: Speaking your mind.

US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, Australian actor Nicole Kidman and a Yemeni girl who broke tribal rules to get a divorce were named today among Glamour magazine's "Women of the Year".

Dr Rice and Kidman were among several high-profile figures on the list of 10, also including Hillary Clinton and Chanel luxury brand chief executive Maureen Chiquet.

Dr Rice "put women's issues on the front burner of US foreign policy," said the magazine devoted to celebrities and fashion television model. The magazine also awarded its prize to human rights lawyer Shada Nasser and Nujood Ali.

As a 10-year-old bride in Yemen, Ms Ali took the stand in court, aided by Ms Nasser, and was granted a historic divorce. "Together Nasser and Ali are committed to saving other little girls from early marriage," Glamour said.

The awards will be given out later today and featured in the magazine's December issue tomorrow.

"I don't even read my horoscope!" said Miller, who culls inspiration from billboards to the New York Times.

Miller delights in prints and that were evident in her New York showroom on Thursday, Dec. 11, where she displayed psychedelic printed sweaters in bold, pop colors and starburst prints. She also experimented with jersey, twisting and tucking to give the effect of three-dimensional braids and argyle patterns modeling photography, or simply ruched, with the added benefit of hiding tummy bulges, proving that there's a way to make jersey a more forgiving fabric.

Sweaters, too, were knitted with gathers, also giving them added dimension. Paired with cropped, baggy trousers - Miller's new pant this season - it was an easy "back to school" kind of look.

Accessories like bags and shoes followed Miller's fabric manipulations, with twisted leather revealing shiny patent underneath.
